Born and raised in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Ryan Spencer has been
involved in dance since the age of 3; training at competitive dance studios
then at 15 traveling nationally and internationally to take workshops,
perform, and choreograph. Now at 22, he is a graduate of the Saint Paul
Conservatory for Performing Artists, and is living in Los Angeles, CA
continuing his career in dance/choreography while being signed by Bloc
Agency. Commercially he has been a dancer on ABC’s “The Middle,” and in
a Samsung commercial choreographed by Michael Rooney. He assisted and
danced for choreographer Nina McNeely on various live performances and
commercial jobs working with artists Fitz and The Tantrums, Pentatonix,
Andrew Huang, Tove Lo & Nick Jonas (Billboard Awards 2016), Sigur Ros,
Jonsi, and Banks. Most recently, he has been assisting and dancing for
world renown choreographer, Ryan Heffington, which has led him to work
with artists SIA, Lorde, Florence and The Machine, Beck, Peaches, Google,
KENZO, and H&M. It has also allowed him to work on the new Off-
Broadway show, “Seeing You,” where Heffington is co-director, the Netflix
movie “Mascots,” directed by Christopher Guest, the hit Netflix series “The
OA,” directed by Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij, and the movie “Baby
Driver,” directed by Edgar Wright. Some live performances include
dancing for Billy Bell’s Lunge Dance Collective, Juliette Irons’ Art-
uncensored, Erica Sobol’s collidEdance, Denna Thomsen and Zak Ryan
Schlegal’s AXIOM, and Marina Abramović’s HEAVEN. As a teacher he has
taught/choreographed at Broadway Dance Center in New York, The
Sweat Spot, & Movement Lifestyle in Los Angeles; as well as studios in
Australia, Italy, Minnesota, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee and
Alabama. He feels so grateful to be dancing his way through life.
